Jalandhar Admn intensifies fight against dengue spread- DC Himanshu Aggarwal
Says, district conducts extensive surveys, issues notices to control disease

Jalandhar, September 10, 2024: The Jalandhar Administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, has launched an aggressive campaign against the spread of dengue in the district.
Detailing the efforts, Dr. Aggarwal stated that the health department has conducted extensive home surveys over the last nine months, covering 2,82,109 houses, including 1,02,644 houses in urban areas and 1,79,465 houses in rural areas.
Dengue larvae were detected at 739 locations during these inspections, which was immediately destroyed by the inspection teams.
In addition, the health department has tested 612 dengue samples in a bid to curb the spread of the disease. To enforce compliance, the department has issued 50 pre-challan notices and eight challans for cases where dengue larvae were found. Sinilarly, on September 9, a total of 3115 houses were surveyed wherein larvae was found in 12 locations. The department has conducted 21 dengue sample tests yesterday.
Dr. Aggarwal emphasized that the administration is not just focused on larvae destruction but is also conducting fogging drives regularly to prevent the spread of vector-borne diseases. Teams from the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation and various Municipal Councils are actively conducting large-scale fogging operations across the district.
The Deputy Commissioner has issued strict instructions to both the health department and municipal authorities to implement maximum preventive measures to halt the spread of the dengue mosquito. He stressed the administration's commitment to ensuring the health and safety of Jalandhar’s residents.
Reaffirming the district administration’s dedication, Dr. Aggarwal stated, "Our primary goal is to fight the spread of the dengue virus and safeguard the well-being of the people of Jalandhar. We will leave no stone unturned in this mission."
