Police arrest fraudster in Ferozepur for fake ID and Loan Scam

Guruharsahai, November 6, 2024: The Ferozepur police have arrested one fraudster in Guruharsahai, on the charges of forgery, following credible information about his alleged scam operations using fake Aadhaar cards and forged documents.
During routine patrolling, a tip-off led the police by Jaswinder Singh that Baldev Singh, who had reportedly fabricated multiple fake identification proofs, including an Aadhaar card under the alias “Gurdev Singh” from Prabhu Colony, Ludhiana. He is also accused of creating counterfeit stamps for the Education Department and Sewa Kendras, which he used to defraud individuals and institutions. These fake IDs enabled him to secure loans from various banks, misleading them with forged documentation.
Upon receiving the information, the police team swiftly conducted a raid, uncovering substantial evidence of fraudulent activities. According to police sources, seized items included a laptop, fake Aadhaar cards, and official stamps—all believed to have been used for unlawful transactions and identity theft.
A First Information Report (FIR) was promptly filed based on the findings, citing Sections 318, 336(2), 336(3), and 338 of the BNS. Singh was arrested on-site and remains in custody as the investigation continues with Jaswinder Singh, IO.
This bust highlights growing concerns over document forgery and the misuse of government credentials. The police urge citizens to report any suspicious activities in their area, as the department intensifies its crackdown on similar fraud cases.
