Ferozepur, November 11, 2024: The Ferozepur rail division has earned a revenue of Rs.1.23 crore in penalties from 20,000 passengers during a special ticket-checking drive from October 25 to November 10, 2024.
Under the headquarters’ special ticket checking campaign, Ferozepur Division, led by Divisional Railway Manager Sanjay Sahu, launched an extensive drive to curb unauthorized travel and boost ticket sales at counters. Conducted from October 25 to November 10, 2024, the campaign involved the strategic deployment of ticket-checking staff, with a particular focus on trains where unauthorized or ticketless travel was noted during senior officials' inspections.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Paramdeep Singh Saini, detailed that the campaign was carried out across critical routes within the division, including Jalandhar-Amritsar, Ferozepur-Bathinda, Ludhiana-Pathankot Cantt, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Pathankot Cantt, Ludhiana-Jalandhar Cantt, and Srinagar-Banihal sections. The drive successfully penalized nearly 20,000 passengers found travelling without valid tickets, resulting in the collection of over ₹1.23 crore in fines.
During the campaign, passengers were educated on using the “UTS on Mobile” app for convenient ticket booking. Sr. DCM Saini encouraged passengers to utilize online payment options, such as QR codes and UPI, available at ticket counters for seamless purchase of both unreserved and reserved tickets.
