BSF's 491-Km Cycle Rally spurs border youth to reject drugs and embrace a healthy lifestyle
Ferozepur, November 25, 2024: The Border Security Force (BSF) is organizing a cycle rally from JCP Sadqi to JCP Attari, Amritsar (via JCP Hussainiwala and the Kartarpur Corridor) to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse among the youth in border areas. This rally aims to educate young people about the harmful consequences of substance misuse, emphasizing the importance of a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
The rally, scheduled from 23 to 30 Nov 2024, will cover a distance of 491 km.
In continuation of the BSF cycle rally, on 25 Nov' 2024, at about 0900 hrs, the cycle rally was flagged off from BSF Camp Mamdot by BSF senior officers along with Balraj Singh, chairman of the Municipal Corporation Mamdot, and civil dignitaries.
During the flag-off ceremony, a cultural program was organized by the BSF troops in collaboration with the schoolchildren of Government Senior Secondary School, Mamdot. The event included a variety of performances, with a special highlight being a powerful drama presented by the NCC cadets of the school. The drama focused on the theme of anti-drug awareness, delivering a strong message about the dangers of drug abuse and the importance of leading a healthy, drug-free life.
The cycle rally was led by Brig Vijai Singh Rana (Retd), DIG SHQ BSF Ferozepur, with the active participation of approximately 45 cyclists, including personnel from the BSF and civil population from the border area.
At about 1100 hrs, the rally arrived at Government Senior Secondary School, Bareke. During its journey, the cycle rally passed through several bordering villages such as Changa Khurd, Pojoke, Maboke, D T Mal, Bhamba Haji, Nijala Kilcha, Gendu Kilcha, Macchiwala, etc. The cycle rally was warmly welcomed by Dr. Satender Pal Singh, DDEO, and BSF senior officers in the presence of schoolchildren and approx. 200 civilians, including Sarpanches, Nambardars, and locals from nearby border villages. They gathered to cheer on the cyclists and show their support for the rally.
Brig Vijai Singh Rana (Retd), DIG SHQ BSF Ferozepur, delivered an inspiring and motivational speech on the theme, "Say No to Drugs," aimed at empowering the border population and youth to embrace a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
DIG SHQ BSF Ferozepur further urged the local youth to play an active role in promoting the message of a drug-free society. He encouraged them to participate in the BSF cycle rally, a symbolic and practical initiative to spread awareness and inspire collective action in the fight against drug abuse.
A weapon display program was also organized at Government Senior Secondary School, Bareke, providing information about various BSF weapons to attendees.
At 1550 hours, the cycle rally promoting awareness against drug abuse reached the Hussainiwala National Martyrs Memorial. As part of the event, the BSF showcased its museum and screened a documentary featuring heroic past incidents to all the cyclists.
The cyclists also witnessed the retreat ceremony at JCP Hussainiwala, during which the audience was encouraged to "Say No to Drugs" and spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and promote a healthier, drug-free lifestyle.
During the BSF Cycle Rally in the bordering villages of Ferozepur, police authorities, district administration, and civil dignitaries came forward to support the BSF cycle rally in achieving its objective of spreading awareness among the youth in the border regions on the theme of "Say No to Drugs." The BSF is deeply grateful for their valuable support in this important initiative. They also expressed their appreciation for the BSF's initiative to educate the youth about the dangers of drug abuse through the BSF Cycle rally.

On 26 Nov 2024, at about 0800 hrs, the cycle rally will be flagged off from Sector Headquarter BSF Ferozepur towards BSF Camp Khemkaran via Arifke.
