Farmers' Protest enters 292nd Day: Leaders plan Dece 6 Delhi March after Key meeting at Shambhu Border
Shambhu Border, November 30, 2024: In a significant development on the 292nd day of the ongoing second phase of the farmers' agitation, leaders of farmer unions from six states convened at Shambhu Border today for a strategic meeting. The session was presided over by PT John from Kerala and Guramneet Singh Mangat. Leaders from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu participated in the deliberations.
The meeting discussed key issues, including the contentious arrest of Jagjit Singh Dallewal by the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government. The leaders strongly condemned the detention, calling it evidence of the government’s "double standards." Following his release, Sardar Jagjit Singh Dallewal is set to resume his hunger strike today at Khanauri Border. Sardar Sukhjit Singh Hardo-Ke-Jhande will step down from his position in solidarity.
December 6 March to Delhi Announced
A major decision from the meeting was the unanimous agreement to send dedicated farmer contingents to Delhi on December 6. The Farmer-Labour Front announced plans to finalize and publish the list of participating groups shortly. Preparations, including logistical arrangements for food, water, volunteer support, and security measures, are already underway.
