Punjab Breaking: Automobile dealers to go on indefinite strike from Dec 9

Amritsar (Punjab), November 30, 2024: The Punjab government has blocked over 400 vehicle ID dealers without giving any notice or prior information to the 2 and 4-wheeler automobile dealers of Punjab for the last 20 days.
This is the second time recently that these vehicle IDs of dealers have been blocked without any notice or prior notification. Registration of new cars across India takes place through VAHAN, a government e-portal website facilitated by the Government of India.
While giving information regarding this, Rajiv Chopra Chairman Federation of Auto Mobile Dealers Association said that we will work unitedly against this bullying of the government.
He said that due to this mistake of the government, all the customers are facing a lot of difficulties. Due to: Public Nuisance: Giving a shock to the Punjab State Transport Office by which the IAC of those who wish to buy new vehicles.
This causes inconvenience to the public, thus forcing them to purchase vehicles from the adjoining states of Chandigarh/Haryana/Himachal/J&K and Rajasthan. In this way, the state of Punjab will suffer a huge loss in GGST.
He said that in Punjab, the security fee for four-wheel drive vehicles is already being charged the highest in the country.
The Chairman further informed that the Punjab State Government is blocking Vehicle IDportal without any notification or prior information to the dealers in which customers and dealerships face external problems.
It brings the dealership and associated brands into disrepute, through no fault of their own. So dealerships feel that if this practice continues, they will want to surrender registration rights. The public can approach the concerned DTO/RTO office as before.
Way forward: FADA will request the Punjab government to resolve the issue in the next 72 hours, so automobile dealerships will go on token strike on December 2, 2024.If the issue persists, the automobile dealers will go on an indefinite strike after December 9, 2024.
