Chandigarh, December 7, 2024: The Haryana police has sent a letter to the Punjab DGP, asking the latter to ensure that journalists are stopped at a safe distance (minimum distance of 1 km) while covering farmers' protest at the Shambu border.
The media has been requested to maintain proper distance from the crowd at the Shambhu border or any other place where law and order-related duty is going on.
"On December 6, 2024, when Jatha of farmers approached towards Haryana border, many of the media persons were also accompanying them despite a request made by this office to not allow media persons near the protest site. Due to the above, the Haryana Police faced a lot of problems in handling law and order situation at the border. Hence, you are again requested to direct all the concerned to ensure that media persons are stopped at a safe distance (minimum 1 km) in the interest of the safety of the media and their equipments," read the letter issued by Haryana DGP to Punjab DGP.
