Food Commission member conducts surprise inspections in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, December 11, 2024: Vijay Dutt, a member of the Punjab State Food Commission, conducted a two-day surprise inspection across various government ration depots, schools, and Anganwadi centers in Ferozepur district on December 10 and 11. The inspections aimed to assess the implementation of schemes under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).
On December 10, Vijay Dutt visited government ration depots in Mamdot's villages, including Chako Bai alias Taranawala, Bodal, Khilchi Kadeem, and Naurang Ke Sial.
On December 11, he inspected Government Elementary Smart School and Primary Schools in Malwal Kadeem, Anganwadi centers 1 and 2, Government High Smart School and Primary Smart School in Pyareana village, Anganwadi Center in Block Zira-2's Ratol Rohi village, and ration depots 232 and 291 in Makhu town.
During his inspections, Vijay Dutt noted that most government ration depots, schools, and Anganwadi centers lacked displays of the Punjab State Food Commission's complaint helpline number. He issued strict warnings to the concerned officials. Additionally, he interacted with beneficiaries at their homes to gather feedback about the services provided.
In schools, he emphasized maintaining a food testing register for the mid-day meal program and ensuring clean and hygienic food preparation and serving practices. He engaged with students to discuss the mid-day meal quality and shared a meal with them. Further, he directed authorities to regularly test water quality and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in schools, conduct regular health check-ups for students, and ensure medical examinations for mid-day meal workers.
Vijay Dutt instructed all government ration depots, schools, and Anganwadi centers to prominently display the Punjab State Food Commission's helpline number (9876764545). He urged beneficiaries to report any grievances related to NFSA schemes through the helpline.
