Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University organizes week-long community outreach program

Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab), December 23, 2024: The Centre for Internship and Social Outreach, Department of Education, Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, conducted a week-long Community Outreach Program in Village Madhopal, focusing on community engagement, awareness, and fostering social responsibility among students.
Dr. Gagandeep Tiwana, the Program Coordinator, mentioned that the students had participated in various activities such as awareness talks, demographic surveys, cleanliness drives, and interactive sessions with the villagers.
These activities aimed to address significant social and environmental issues while enhancing the bond between the university and the local community.
Dr. Harneet Billing, Head of the Department of Education, explained that the program was designed to cultivate values like social responsibility, teamwork, and empathy among students. She added that it provided them with hands-on experiences to develop problem-solving skills and gain a better understanding of rural life.
Prof. Sukhwinder Singh Billing, Dean of Academic Affairs, appreciated the efforts of the students and faculty, noting that such initiatives were instrumental in shaping socially responsible citizens and future educators sensitive to societal needs.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Pritpal Singh expressed his admiration for the program, saying it reflected the university’s commitment to holistic development through academic excellence and social outreach. He remarked that the initiative aligned with the university’s mission to empower communities and prepare students to drive positive change.
