Ferozepur (Punjab), December 26, 2024: Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s indefinite hunger strike reached its 31st day at the Khanauri Morcha, with alarming concerns over his deteriorating health. According to a medical bulletin, his blood pressure has plummeted to a critically low 88/59. Reports indicate that he has not consumed water since last evening due to persistent vomiting, leaving his pulse and immunity dangerously weak.
As part of the lead-up to the Punjab Bandh scheduled for December 30, a meeting was held today involving representatives of trade, cultural, social, and religious organizations, alongside officials from the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Majdoor Morcha. These groups have pledged their full support for the bandh.
To further strategize, a district-level meeting with various organizations has been scheduled for Friday, to finalize plans for the event.
In response to the call by Samyukt Kisan Morcha and Kisan Majdoor Morcha, symbolic hunger strikes and protests were organized across the nation today. Demonstrations were held at district and tehsil levels from 10 AM to 4 PM to express solidarity with Dallewal’s ongoing hunger strike.
The protests underscore the growing support for Dallewal’s demands, as pressure mounts on authorities to address the grievances of the farming community who are sitting at the Shambhu border for the last 371 days demanding MSP on all crops besides various other demands.
