Chandigarh Polo Club to Host Polo Exhibition Matches at Punjab Horse Show During Maghi Mela

As part of the Maghi Mela celebrations, the Chandigarh Polo Club (CPC) has been invited to organize polo exhibition matches under the aegis of the Punjab Horse Show on January 11-12, 2025 at Muktsar. The event is aimed to promote polo and equestrian sports in the region, rekindling interest in this regal game.
The two-day event will feature three teams—Chandigarh Polo Club, Punjab Polo Team, and Team Servicemen—competing in three thrilling exhibition matches. Notably, several servicemen will be participating, bringing their discipline and sportsmanship to the matches. Their inclusion adds a unique dimension to the event, emphasizing camaraderie and unity through sport.
Chandigarh Polo Club (CPC) which is being led by its President Dilpreet Singh Sidhu has been at the forefront of promoting polo in the region. Recently, CPC successfully hosted the Maharaja Ranjit Singh National Polo Tournament in the first week of December 2024 under the aegis of the Indian Polo Association. This prestigious event saw participation from teams representing the defence services and reputed polo clubs across the country. Inspired by its success, CPC is now committed to developing a comprehensive roadmap to expand and nurture the sport across the region.

Sirbeerinder Singh, President of the Punjab Horse Show, lauded the this edition's inclusion of polo matches marks a significant step towards broadening the scope of the event, encouraging greater participation from local communities and institutions. “Spectators will have an opportunity to witness the thrill of polo while learning about its history, rules, and techniques. This event promises to blend culture, tradition, and sporting excellence, making it a highlight of the region’s annual calendar.” Singh remarked.
