Seminar on how to avoid copyright and use copyright law in Publishing held at DSCW
Ferozepur, February 11, 2025: Dev Samaj College for Women, Ferozepur, organised a webinar on ‘Managing Copyright and Negotiating Publishing Agreements’ as part of its ongoing educational, social, and cultural activities. The college’s Commerce Department conducted the event.
Head of the Commerce Department, Madam Leena Kakkar, stated that the session aimed to equip students with essential knowledge for responsible and ethical academic publishing.
Dr. Neeraj Kumar Singh, Deputy Librarian at A.C. Joshi Library, Panjab University, Chandigarh, was the keynote speaker at the webinar. Through a detailed PowerPoint presentation (PPP), he covered key aspects of academic writing, including topic selection, literature review, data collection and analysis, research paper structuring, citations, and peer review.
Dr. Singh also discussed various methods of publishing research papers, with a particular focus on copyright-related topics such as ownership, licensing, and copyright clearance. He emphasised the importance of understanding and asserting authors’ rights in publishing agreements. Additionally, the session addressed issues related to plagiarism and its consequences.
The webinar concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students actively participated and clarified their queries.
