Lecture on Armed Forces Careers: Colonel Vinod Joshi guides 2000 NCC Cadets
Jalandhar, February 18, 2025: Lovely Professional University organized a two-hour lecture on career opportunities in the Indian Armed Forces by Colonel Vinod Joshi, Commanding Officer of 2 Punjab NCC Battalion. Approximately 2000 NCC cadets and students attended this lecture. Joshi explained the 17 Types of commissions in the army. Students were also briefed about the required education, age, and procedure of written exams.
Every year 3000 officers become officers by getting commissioned in the Army, Navy and Air Force. Colonel Joshi discussed the five-day Service Selection Board interview process after the UPSC written exam in detail. Colonel Joshi further said that various written, oral and interview tests are conducted under extreme time pressure. It is under pressure that aptitude and attitude are assessed. He gave detailed information to 2000 NCC cadets and students about the facilities and responsibilities available in the armed forces. On the first day, 70 per cent of the candidates are eliminated in the screening test, who lack intelligence, logical thinking, creativity and positive thinking. The armed forces work with team spirit for the country and society and protect the land, water and air. They help governments in internal disaster situations.
Colonel Joshi said that promotions in the army are based on merit. He informed the students about the four psychology tests, nine ground tests and interview criteria. In this two-hour speech, Dr. Saurabh Lakhanpal, Dean Student Welfare Wing; Dr. Nitin Bhardwaj, Deputy Dean; Captain (Dr.) Kamaljit Singh; Care Taking Officers and teachers of 2 Punjab NCC, 8 Punjab NCC and 2 Punjab Girls Battalion were present. The cadets asked many curious questions and Colonel Joshi answered them. This informative lecture concluded with the NCC song and the slogan of Bharat Mata Ki Jai.
