Drug case: Supreme Court orders Bikram Majithia to appear before SIT

New Delhi, March 4, 2025 The Supreme Court has given a major verdict in the drug case involving Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) senior leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia.
Taking a tough stance, the court has ordered Bikram Majithia to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on March 17, 2025. This decision was pronounced by a bench of the Supreme Court on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
Bikram Majithia has been embroiled in a drug-related case for a long time, in which he was accused of being involved in drug trafficking and related activities.The case is being investigated by the Special Investigation Team of the Punjab Police.
The latest orders of the Supreme Court have made it clear that Majithia will have to appear before the SIT on the appointed date to cooperate in the investigation. Sources said that during the hearing, the court listened to the arguments of all the parties.
The defense had claimed that the case was a result of political vendetta, while the government prosecutor insisted that Majithia's presence was necessary to proceed with the investigation in a rational manner. The court accepted the government's argument and issued this order.
The decision has created a stir in the political circles of Punjab. A spokesperson for the Shiromani Akali Dal said that they respect the court's decision and Bikram Majithia will appear before the investigation team at the appointed time. The case has been in the headlines for the past several years.
