Amritsar (Punjab), March 14, 2025: A growing divide within the Damdami Taksal became evident as Sri Akal Takht Jathedar and Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, met with Damdami Taksal Chief Bhai Ram Singh Sangravan at his residence.
During the meeting, both Sikh leaders discussed religious propagation, Panthic affairs, and the challenges facing the Sikh community. Bhai Ram Singh extended his full support to Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj in carrying forward Panthic initiatives. As a mark of respect, Bhai Ram Singh honored him with a traditional dastaar (turban) and a siropa (robe of honor).
This meeting comes at a crucial time when a Panthic convention, led by various Sikh organizations at Sri Anandpur Sahib under the leadership of Sant Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa, strongly opposed the recent SGPC decisions regarding the appointment of new Sikh Takht Jathedars.
The congregation, in a resounding show of unity, passed six resolutions rejecting the SGPC Executive Committee’s move and called for the reinstatement of the previously dismissed Jathedars.
