Himachal: Massive fire at Hydroelectric Project colony in Chamba, one labourer burnt alive

Chamba (Himachal Pradesh), March 15, 2025 A devastating fire broke out in the labour colony of an under-construction hydroelectric project in Chanju, Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh, late Friday night.
The blaze tragically claimed the life of a laborer, identified as Bindu, son of Dharam Chand, a resident of Sanged village.
Chaos erupted as the flames rapidly engulfed the colony, destroying property worth lakhs of rupees.Upon receiving the distress call, police and fire brigade teams rushed to the site to control the fire and assess the damage.
Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav confirmed the incident, stating that the victim’s body was handed over to the family after a post-mortem under police supervision.The cause of the fire remains unknown, and authorities are investigating the matter.
The tragic incident has raised serious concerns about fire safety measures at construction sites, especially in high-risk areas like labour colonies.
