Chandigarh, March 16, 2025 – Farmers in Punjab have announced an intensified protest against the state government, stating that their demands have been ignored.
Discussions were held regarding the March 3 meeting with the Chief Minister and the planned gathering of farmers in Sector 34, but no positive response was received from the government.
Farmers said they had initially planned to hold a meeting with the Chief Minister on March 16, but their concerns were not addressed. They also condemned the violence against farmers in Lele village.
The farmer leaders declared that on March 26, the day the Punjab government presents its budget, they will gather at Sector 34 Ground in Chandigarh and march on foot to the Punjab Assembly.
Additionally, pamphlets will be distributed across Punjab to raise awareness about the protest.
Further, mahapanchayats (large farmers’ gatherings) will be organized in Barnala, Amritsar, and Jalandhar as part of the movement to challenge the Punjab government.
