Some in Punjab wanted to become Bhindranwale, Amit Shah on Amritpal

New Delhi, March 21, 2024: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today said that some people in the Punjab wanted to become Bhindranwale but their government ensured that they were kept in Dibrugarh Jail.
Replying to a question in Rajya Sabha, Amit Shah said disclosed that how his ministry tackled extremist Amritpal Singh in Punjab and said that those who wanted to be Bhindranwale is now peacefully reciting Guru Granth Sahib in Assam jail.
He further said that we did not have the government in the state but still it was his ministry's firm resolve that the man is reciting Guru Granth Sahib in Assam jail.
He also said that We won't let danger flourish in the nation because of political ideology. We'll nip them in the bud.
It is worth mentioning here that Amritpal Singh, the chief of Waris Punjab De organisation was arrested by Punjab Police on April 23, 2023 from Rode village in Moga district. He along with his supporters were sent to Assam’s Dibrugarh Jail.
