Vigilance Bureau arrests FCI Quality Control Manager red-handed accepting Rs 50,000 bribe

Chandigarh, March 27, 2025: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, arrested Vikas Kumar, Quality Control Manager, posted at Food Storage Depot, Food Corporation of India (FCI), Patiala while he was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50000.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the VB stated that the accused has been arrested based on a complaint lodged by a rice mill owner from Bhunarheri, in Patiala district.
He further added that the complainant has approached the VB alleging that the aforementioned FCI officer has been demanding Rs one lakh in lieu of facilitating the storage of rice shelled from the paddy purchased by Markfed.
The spokesperson informed that after a preliminary verification of this complaint the VB team laid a trap during which the said accused has been caught red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard a case has been registered against the said accused at the VB Police Station, Patiala Range. He would be produced before the competent court tomorrow and further investigation into this case was under progress, he said.
