Chandigarh, March 28, 2025: Punjab has taken a significant step toward transparent and responsive governance with the expansion of its flagship ‘AAP DI SARKAR, AAP DE DWAR’ program. Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema announced fresh directives mandating Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to engage more actively with rural communities.
Addressing a press conference at Punjab Bhawan, Cheema revealed that under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, Deputy Commissioners will dedicate four days a week—Saturday through Tuesday—to visiting villages.
Each day, they will cover 3–4 villages, ensuring comprehensive outreach within their jurisdictions in two to three months.
The initiative prioritizes direct interaction with villagers, enabling officials to address grievances, assess the performance of local functionaries like teachers and healthcare staff, and promote community-driven cleanliness.
Additionally, officers will disseminate critical information to support Punjab’s ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ anti-drug campaign and encourage youth participation in sports and social welfare activities.
To maximize effectiveness, visits will be pre-scheduled, with advance notifications issued to the villages.
Public meetings will be held to document concerns meticulously and coordinate with relevant departments for prompt redressal.
Reports summarizing grievances, actions taken, and further recommendations will be submitted to the Department of Removal of Public Grievances and the Chief Secretary’s office for review.
Emphasizing the government’s commitment to citizen welfare, Finance Minister Cheema said these proactive measures would bring governance closer to the people, ensuring real-time problem-solving and fostering a more responsive administration.
