Jalandhar (Punjab), March 28, 2025 – Environmentalist and Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal has firmly defended the success of the ‘Seechewal Model,’ refuting claims of its failure made by opposition leader Pratap Singh Bajwa in the Punjab Legislative Assembly.
He asserted that the model has been successfully implemented in over 250 villages and remains a sustainable solution for wastewater management, unlike the ‘Thapar Model,’ which he labeled a failure.
Seechewal criticized engineers for flawed implementations of alternative models and pointed out how the ‘Thapar Model’ failed in Sangrur despite heavy investments.
He recalled an instance at Thapar University where engineers ignored his warnings about technical flaws in their water treatment system.Highlighting national recognition of the ‘Seechewal Model,’ he noted that it has been adopted in 1,657 villages along the Ganga River to combat pollution. The central government showcased the model in Delhi, with support from multiple states, including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh.
With growing support, Seechewal reaffirmed his commitment to the model, challenging detractors and urging practical solutions over political rhetoric.
