Health Department conducts workshop on Childhood TB Awareness
Ferozepur, March 29, 2025: The Health Department of Ferozepur, under the guidance of Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajwinder Kaur and District TB Officer Dr. Satinder Oberoi, organised a workshop on tuberculosis (TB) in children. The event was conducted in collaboration with World Health Partners and saw participation from officials of the Education Department, the Department of Women and Child Development, and the Health Department. Dr. Abhishek Sharma, District Project Coordinator of World Health Partners, coordinated the workshop.

Dr. Isha Narula, a paediatric specialist, provided in-depth information on childhood TB. She emphasized that the workshop aimed to enhance awareness about paediatric TB symptoms, treatment, and management. She highlighted that symptoms such as persistent cough and fever for more than two weeks, weight loss, blood in sputum, loss of appetite, and night sweats in children aged 0-14 should not be ignored, and parents should consult a specialist or visit a TB clinic for timely diagnosis.
Dr. Satinder Oberoi noted that identifying TB in young children is challenging as they cannot effectively communicate symptoms, and collecting samples is also difficult. This increases the risk of TB spreading to others.
Among those present at the workshop were Dr. Jasleen Gill, Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Dr. Saminder Kaur, Dr. Yuvraj, District Mass Media Officer Sanjeev Sharma, Education Department representatives Rachhpal Singh and Dolly, and Women and Child Development Department officials Alka Rani and Sharandeep Kaur.
