Addicts can shun drugs as treatment, rehabilitation available: Hoshiarpur DC

Hoshiarpur (Punjab), March 29, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain on Saturday urged the people to come forward in getting the curse of drugs eradicated from society by helping the addicts to shun this menace.
In a fervent appeal to people, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain stated that it is high time to work shoulder to shoulder under the State Government's initiatives against drugs including 'Yudh Nashean Virudh' for the welfare of addicts so that they could relish the healthy and prosperous life in mainstream.
She pointed out that the District Drug De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Center has various facilities as well as free treatment for addicts.
Those trapped in drugs can take full advantage of facilities, arrangements, and services including counseling from experts, skill development training, yoga, exercises, a gym, and a healthy environment.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the Punjab Government had also unveiled OOAT clinics in the district, which were being catered to the need of addicts by providing requisite medication.
She mentioned that a 24X7 helpline 85580-01882 had already been set up to provide information regarding nearby OOAT clinics.
All the information about addicts is being kept confidential, said the Deputy Commissioner adding that if anyone has information about the addicts they could get them admitted in the centre for better treatment. Aashika Jain reiterated that the enhancement of the existing capacity of the District Drug Department and Rehabilitation Center is under consideration by the District Administration.
She said that they had visited the center twice to inspect the existing infrastructure, futuristic improvements, and capacity enhancement and shortly a blueprint could be finalized.
