Development projects launched in 258 Gram Panchayats; 7,136 MGNREGA workers engaged in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, April 1, 2025: In line with the Punjab government's directives, special Gram Sabhas were organized across the district to formulate development plans for the financial year 2025-26. Based on the resolutions passed in these meetings, development projects have now commenced in various villages.
Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma informed that development work, including the cleaning and improvement of village ponds, construction of sports grounds, and parks, has been initiated in 258 Gram Panchayats across the district. In addition, employment has been provided to approximately 7,136 workers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
She further stated that in the coming days, similar projects, including the renovation of ponds, construction of parks and sports grounds, and maintenance of canal drains under the Irrigation Department, will be launched in all Gram Panchayats. All the concerned authorities have been directed to ensure maximum employment opportunities for MGNREGA workers while executing these development projects.
The Gram Sabhas have approved various initiatives such as nurseries, solid and liquid waste management, rural huts, shared toilets, Anganwadi centers, community infrastructure for self-help groups, libraries, and plantation drives. The Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) and officials from concerned departments will closely monitor the progress of these projects to ensure their timely completion.
