Night Sweeping initiative enhances cleanliness in commercial areas of Ferozepur
Ferozepur, April 1, 2025: In line with the Punjab government's directives, a unique night sweeping initiative has been launched across all cities in Ferozepur district to improve urban cleanliness and hygiene in the city's bustling marketplaces, with a nodal officer appointed for each market and senior officials conducting surprise inspections.

Providing details about the initiative, Superintendent Sanitation Sukhpal Singh from the Ferozepur Municipal Council stated that, under the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma, special measures are being taken for city cleanliness, sewer maintenance, streetlight management, and waste collection and disposal.
Night sweeping operations are being conducted daily in the commercial areas of Ferozepur, Zira, Talwandi Bhai, Guru Har Sahai, Mallanwala, Makhu, Mamdot, and Mudki. The primary objective of this initiative is to ensure that waste generated in commercial zones is cleared overnight, providing a clean environment for shopkeepers and morning walkers.
Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma has also urged residents to maintain cleanliness, segregate household waste properly, and hand it over only to authorized sanitation workers. She further advised against burning or dumping waste on streets, alleys, or vacant plots. For any sanitation-related complaints, citizens have been encouraged to contact their respective Municipal Council or Nagar Panchayat office.
