Faridabad (Haryana), April 1, 2025: Faridabad-based Team Purush Aayog has given a call to gather on the first Sunday of April at BK Chowk in Faridabad to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention among men.
The event, organized by Team Purush Aayog , urged men to live for their loved ones and appealed to sons, brothers, fathers, and friends to support the cause.
The rally carried a poignant message: "Today it’s someone else, tomorrow it could be your own— a brother, son, father, or friend." The group emphasized the need to save lives and advocated for the establishment of a Men’s Commission to address issues faced by men.
In India, there is a growing demand among certain groups and individuals for the establishment of a National Commission for Men.
Advocates argue that a dedicated commission would provide a platform for men to share their experiences, seek justice, and access support services tailored to their needs. They believe this body could play a crucial role in safeguarding men's rights and promoting gender-neutral policies.
However, this proposal has encountered opposition. The Supreme Court of India, in July 2023, dismissed a plea for the creation of such a commission, suggesting that the existing legal framework already offers avenues for addressing grievances.
