DGP Chandigarh Transferred to BSF as DIG; Chandigarh Administration Directed to Relieve Him Immediately
Chandigarh, April 1, 2025 – In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has transferred Surendra Singh Yadav, IPS (AGMUT: 1997), Director General of Police (DGP) of Chandigarh and appointed him as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Border Security Force (BSF) on deputation basis. The order, issued on April 1, 2025, mandates the Chandigarh Administration to relieve the officer immediately to enable him to take up his new assignment at the Centre.
The MHA’s office memorandum, signed by Under Secretary to the Government of India, Sanjeev Kumar, references the UTS-I Division’s earlier order dated March 31, 2025, and confirms the approval of the Competent Authority for Shri Yadav’s appointment to the BSF. The directive underscores the urgency of the transfer, instructing that Shri Yadav be relieved without delay to assume his new role.
IPS Raj Kumar has been directed to look after the work of DGP Chandigarh.
