High Court seeks Punjab Govt's reply on Sukhbir Badal's plea for NIA probe

Chandigarh, April 4, 2025 – The Punjab and Haryana High Court has sought a response from the Punjab government on a petition filed by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, seeking an investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the attack on him at Darbar Sahib, Amritsar, on December 4.
Badal moved the court demanding a central agency probe into the incident.Advocate Kaler stated that the High Court heard the matter today and directed the Punjab government to submit its reply. The next hearing is scheduled for April 30.

Adv Arshdeep Kaler further informed that they raised several key concerns before the court, arguing that the Punjab Police’s investigation in the case was not conducted appropriately, as they failed to even record the statement of Sukhbir Badal.
He also questioned how the accused, Narain Singh Chaura, was granted bail and is now giving interviews on media channels.
