Manoj Kumar's legacy will live on forever: Minister Anil Vij in heartfelt tribute

Chandigarh, April 4, 2025 – Paying tribute to legendary actor Manoj Kumar, Haryana's Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister Anil Vij said that while the iconic artist passed away today at the age of 87, his legacy and patriotic spirit will live on forever.
Minister Vij said, “Manoj Kumar’s songs and performances always carried the fragrance of Indian culture. His character and contribution to Indian cinema will remain immortal.” He further added that the melodies sung and enacted by the veteran actor would continue to echo in the hearts of generations to come.
In a heartfelt gesture, Vij sang some of Manoj Kumar’s most memorable film songs, offering a personal tribute to the late actor.
Manoj Kumar, fondly known as ‘Bharat Kumar’ for his strong portrayal of patriotic roles, passed away earlier this morning in Mumbai. He had been battling liver cirrhosis and had been hospitalized since February 21, 2025, after his health deteriorated. His last rites will be held tomorrow in Mumbai.
Born in 1937, Manoj Kumar was best known for his iconic films such as "Upkar," "Purab Aur Paschim," "Kranti," and "Roti Kapda Aur Makaan." His work resonated deeply with nationalistic sentiment and earned him a special place in Indian cinema.
