Chandigarh, April 8, 2025 - Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Shyam Singh Rana on Tuesday inaugurated Atal Kisan Mazdoor Canteens in the grain markets of Radaur and Saraswati Nagar in Yamunanagar district.
He said that similar canteens will soon be set up in all 240 Mandis across the state.
While speaking at the event he said that the aim of this initiative of the state government is not only to provide clean and affordable food to farmers and labourers but to also empower women.These canteens are being run by women self-help groups.
Rana said that each meal will include dal, a vegetable dish (sabzi), four chapatis, and rice, available for just Rs.10. This service will run daily from 11 A.M. to 3 P.M, and about 50 to 60 people can be served at a time.
Shyam Singh Rana personally tasted the food prepared in the canteen and appreciated the hard work of the women groups. He also directed officers to ensure cleanliness and serve fresh food.
He further said that it is the dream of Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini that every section of society—be it farmers, laborers, or the needy should benefit from government welfare schemes.He said that both the central and state governments are working continuously for the upliftment of women.
He listed several welfare schemes like the Mukhya Mantri Matritav Sahayta Yojana, Widow and Destitute Women Pension Scheme, Kanyadan Scheme, and Aapki Beti Humari Beti which are helping women progress in all areas.
