Yudh Nashian Virudh
Schools in Ferozepur actively engaged in anti-drug awareness activities
Ferozepur, April 8, 2025: As part of the campaign – “Yudh Nashian Virudh”, various awareness activities are being conducted in schools of Ferozepur district under the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the tutelage of District Education Officer (DEO, Secondary) Ferozepur, Munila Arora, along with Deputy District Education Officer (Secondary) Dr. Satinder Singh.
Punjab’s war against drugs, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, has gained momentum, delivering breakthroughs in the past with the arrest of peddlers, registration of FIRs and illegal drug hubs demolition and the campaign has sent a strong message that Punjab is on a mission to become drug-free.
Sometime back, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, who is leading a five-member Cabinet Sub-Committee monitoring the campaign, said that “Drug smugglers have only three choices — quit the trade, leave Punjab, or end up behind bars as no one dealing with drugs will be spared. The message is clear — Punjab will no longer be a haven for drug smugglers. Either they leave the trade or face dire consequences.
At Saragarhi Memorial Meritorious School, Ferozepur, students participated in poetry recitation, poster-making, and rangoli competitions, effectively spreading awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse.
Similarly, students of Government Senior Secondary School, Bare Ke, conveyed the anti-drug message through poetry, while those from Government High School, Jhoke Hari Har, used rangoli art to promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
DEO Munila Arora and Deputy DEO Dr. Satinder Singh emphasized that these activities are an integral part of the Punjab government’s mission to eradicate drugs from society. "The government is committed to eliminating drug abuse, and such competitions in schools play a crucial role in educating and empowering students to stay away from drugs and raise awareness among others," they stated.
