MLAs Appeal to maintain communal harmony in the district
Ferozepur’s 4 MLA vow strict action against vandals targeting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s statues
Ferozepur, April 9, 2025: Strongly condemning any attempts to damage the statues of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, local MLAs, including Ranbir Singh Bhullar (Ferozepur City), Rajneesh Dahiya (Ferozepur Rural), Naresh Kataria (Zira), and Fauja Singh Sarari (Guru Har Sahai), addressed the media at the Zila Parishad. They assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible for such acts.
The MLAs emphasized that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was a towering personality—a renowned Indian jurist, economist, politician, and social reformer who championed the rights of Dalits, women, and labourers. As the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and the first Law Minister of independent India, his contributions remain invaluable. They condemned any act of vandalism against his statues as shameful and unacceptable.
MLA Rajneesh Dahiya criticized disruptive elements for deliberately attempting to disturb Punjab’s peace and law and order. He specifically called out Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, condemning his statements as an insult to Punjab and Punjabi culture. He challenged Pannu, stating, "If you have the courage, come to Punjab and face the people."
Similarly, MLA Ranbir Singh Bhullar urged the people of Punjab to uphold communal harmony and not be misled by inflammatory remarks. He reiterated that Dr. Ambedkar is respected by all communities and that such divisive statements will not succeed in disrupting Punjab’s unity.
MLA Naresh Kataria condemned attacks on Dr. Ambedkar’s statues, asserting that such actions are the result of frustration among anti-social elements. He stated that Punjab, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is progressing toward prosperity, which some forces cannot tolerate.
MLA Fauja Singh Sarari reaffirmed that all communities in Punjab are united and will continue to maintain communal harmony. He urged the district residents to stay united and reject any inflammatory statements meant to create discord.
The leaders collectively denounced any attempts to spread unrest and assured that the government would take strict action against those responsible for damaging the statues of Dr. Ambedkar.
