Chandigarh, April 10, 2025:
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab over the "deteriorating law-and-order situation," following the killing of Sub-Inspector Charanjit Singh in Tarn Taran.
In a strongly worded statement on social media, Badal alleged that criminals in Punjab have become emboldened amid a surge in grenade attacks on police stations and growing public violence. "Criminals are now murdering policemen in full public view," he said.
He claimed that AAP workers were responsible for the shooting incident in Tarn Taran where SI Charanjit Singh was shot dead and two other policemen were injured in front of a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
“The Shiromani Akali Dal stands in solidarity with the family of the martyred officer and demands the harshest action against those responsible,” said Badal.
Calling the incident a reflection of complete lawlessness, the SAD chief demanded Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s resignation, holding him accountable for failing to maintain law and order in the state. “His own party members are perpetuating a state of anarchy,” he alleged.
