DC Komal Mittal Inspects Ongoing Development Works in Mohali and Majri Blocks
Emphasizes Need to Develop Village Ponds as per Thapar Model for Effective Liquid Waste Management
100 Play Grounds Come up in district last fiscal, 184 more in this year
SAS Nagar, April 10, 2025:
Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Sonam Chaudhary, today visited the Mohali and Majri Blocks to review the ongoing development works in various villages.
Highlighting the importance of a healthy rural environment, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for setting up playgrounds and cleaning village ponds. She stated that, in line with the directives of Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Mohali District Administration is committed to providing a clean and safe environment for the youth, along with sustainable solutions for liquid waste management.
During her visit to villages including Behlolpur, Chandpur, and Naggal Garhian, she inspected completed and ongoing works related to ponds and playgrounds. She informed that while 100 playgrounds have already been developed in the last fiscal year, 184 more are planned across additional villages.
She further mentioned that village ponds across the district will soon be developed based on the Thapar Model, which aims to offer a long-term solution to the issue of liquid waste in rural areas.
Deputy Commissioner Mittal directed ADC Sonam Chaudhary to ensure close monitoring of all ongoing rural development projects, with special focus on the timely completion of pond and playground works. She added that Block Development and Panchayat Officers will be held accountable for the on-ground execution of these initiatives.
ADC Sonam Chaudhary assured the Deputy Commissioner of timely progress, affirming that she would personally oversee the daily updates and ensure efficient implementation of the projects.
