Ludhiana (Punjab), April 11, 2025: Paying rich tributes to Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on his 134th birth anniversary, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora said the Indian Constitution safeguards the rights of every section of society.
Addressing a large gathering of members of the Valmiki community at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan on Friday, Arora emphasised that even women's rights are firmly protected under the Constitution. He congratulated the Bhartiya Valmiki Dharam Samaj (BHAVADHAS) for organising a grand event to honor Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar—the chief architect of the Indian Constitution—and highlighted the significance of the Constitution in ensuring equality and justice.
Responding to a demand raised during the event, Arora mentioned that efforts are underway to regularise overaged and other workers of the Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana (MCL). He added that an official announcement on this matter is expected soon. He reaffirmed that the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is dedicated to serving all segments of society.
Arora also announced financial assistance of Rs.10 lakh for the ongoing renovation work of Bhagwan Valmiki Bhawan in Jamalpur (Ludhiana).
The MP, who is contesting from Ludhiana (West) as the AAP candidate in the upcoming assembly elections, said he would feel honored if people voted for him based on his three-year performance as a parliamentarian.
MLAs Madan Lal Bagga and Ashok Parashar Pappi, while addressing the gathering, said they have been fighting for the rights of the Valmiki community and urged the community to support Arora’s candidacy in return. BHAVADHAS leader Ashwani Sahota and Mayor Inderjit Kaur also spoke at the event.
On the occasion, Arora distributed five copies of the Constitution of India.
