MLAs celerate Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s 134th birth anniversary in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, April 14, 2025: The Punjab government, under the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is fulfilling Dr. BR Ambedkar’s vision by ensuring seamless implementation of reservation policies and SC scholarship distribution, with six Scheduled Caste (SC) ministers in the cabinet, stated local MLAs during a district-level event at Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University.
The occasion marked the 134th birth anniversary of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution and Bharat Ratna recipient.
Legislators Rajnish Dahiya (Firozpur Rural), Ranbir Singh Bhullar (Firozpur Urban), Fauja Singh Sarari (Guruharsahai), and Naresh Kataria (Zira), along with Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma and SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, paid floral tributes to Dr. Ambedkar. The event saw participation from students, officials, and community members who honored his legacy of social justice and equality.
Rajnish Dahiya highlighted Dr. Ambedkar’s lifelong dedication to social equality, justice, and human rights, emphasizing his role as a messiah for all communities, not just the marginalized. He urged students to study Ambedkar’s life and follow his path of education, unity, and struggle, stating as his life inspires us to learn, connect, and fight for justice.
Ranbir Singh Bhullar described the Indian Constitution, drafted by Dr. Ambedkar, as the soul of the nation, ensuring equal rights and opportunities for all citizens. He noted that Ambedkar’s commitment to social justice continues to guide the nation toward equality.
Fauja Singh Sarari called Ambedkar’s life a source of inspiration for all, emphasizing his global influence in advocating for equality and human rights. He urged everyone to pledge to build a society free from discrimination based on caste, color, or gender.
Naresh Kataria condemned societal divisions based on caste, race, or economic status, encouraging people to embrace Ambedkar’s ideology to foster brotherhood and build a strong, equitable nation.
The legislators collectively called for celebrating the day with dedication to Ambedkar’s ideals, working toward a nation free from casteism and inequality. A booklet detailing welfare schemes for SCs, backward classes, and minorities was released by the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities.
Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma congratulated the district residents, stating that Ambedkar’s vision would continue to guide society. Dr. Rameshwar Singh Katora provided an in-depth presentation on Ambedkar’s life, struggles, and contributions to social reform.
Students performed songs and presentations, while beneficiaries of the post-matric scholarship scheme shared their experiences, highlighting the government’s efforts in supporting education for marginalized communities.
The event was attended by SDM Firozpur Divya P., Assistant Commissioner Simranjit Singh, District Planning Board Chairman Chand Singh Gill, and other officials and all of whom paid their respects to Dr. Ambedkar.
