New Delhi, April 15, 2025: In what could be a game-changing move for millions of Indian commuters, the central government is all set to roll out a new national toll policy that promises significant financial relief and a smoother travel experience across the country. As per news reports, the new policy—expected to be announced within 15 days—aims to cut average toll charges by up to 50%.
More significantly, it will introduce an all-India annual toll pass for just Rs 3,000, allowing unlimited travel on national highways, expressways, and even state highways.
No More Toll Booths, Pay Per Kilometer
The upcoming policy marks a shift from the traditional toll plaza model to a distance-based tolling system, where vehicles will pay a fixed fee per kilometer—expected to be Rs 50 per 100 km for cars.
Toll payments will be seamlessly integrated with the FASTag system, eliminating the need for additional physical passes or stop-and-go toll booth setups.
