Police net drug peddlers with over 1.5 kg heroin, solve murder cases with multiple arrests
Ferozepur, April 27, 2025: Under the ongoing 'War Against Drugs' initiative, the Ferozepur Police, under the supervision of gazetted officers, has intensified its crackdown on criminals and anti-social elements, achieving significant breakthroughs in drug trafficking and recent murder cases.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bhupinder Singh revealed details of two separate arrests made under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. In the first case registered at Lakho Ke Behram police station, police apprehended Lazar, 24 years old, Basti Khushal Singh Wala resident, and Amanjit Singh, 18 years old, resident of Gatti Rajo Ke. The arrests led to the recovery of 1.023 grams of heroin and one motorcycle.
In another operation under the NDPS Act at Sadar police station, authorities recovered a substantial quantity of 514 grams of heroin. SSP Singh stated that arrests in this connection would be made shortly.
Emphasising the police's unwavering commitment, SSP Singh affirmed that these operations would continue relentlessly to rid the district of drugs and create a safer environment for its citizens. He reiterated the force's dedication to eliminating crime, drugs, and social evils from Ferozepur.
Addressing the recent firing incidents that resulted in the tragic deaths of two individuals and an attack on a Municipal Commissioner, SSP Singh announced significant progress. He stated that two individuals, identified as Jashan alias Teji and Sukhwinder alias Krish, were apprehended within hours of the incident. The murder case was successfully solved with the recovery of four firearms, including one .30 bore pistol, one .32 bore pistol, and two country-made pistols. While preliminary investigations suggest personal rivalry as the motive, SSP Singh refrained from disclosing further details due to the ongoing investigation.
In connection with other murder cases, SSP Singh informed that one accused, Gagandeep alias Deepu, a resident of Nihala Kilcha, has been arrested. He assured that the remaining three identified individuals would also be apprehended soon.
