Ministers Dhaliwal, Khudian to hold ‘Anti-Drug Meeting’ with VDCs; DC, SSP review arrangements
Ferozepur, May 1, 2025: In preparation for an upcoming meeting under the “War Against Drugs” initiative, Deputy Commissioner Deepashikha Sharma and SSP Bhupinder Singh on Thursday reviewed arrangements. The meeting, scheduled for May 2, will be led by Cabinet Ministers Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal (Minister of NRI Affairs) and Gurmeet Singh Khudian (Minister of Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare), focusing on collaborative action with Village Defence Committees (VDCs) to combat drug abuse in Punjab.
The DC and SSP interacted with civil and police administration officials to discuss essential security and logistical arrangements. They instructed staff to carry out their assigned duties with utmost responsibility to ensure the success of the event.
DC stated that this meeting aims to engage VDCs in anti-drug efforts and to raise public awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse. She emphasized that their involvement would be crucial in eradicating drugs from the grassroots level.
SSP Bhupinder Singh provided directives on security, traffic, and parking arrangements. He noted that members of VDCs, sarpanches, and other community leaders from various villages across the district would attend the meeting, with robust measures in place to facilitate smooth operations.
Also present during the review were ADC (General) Nidhi Kumud Bambha, ADC (Development) Harjinder Singh, SDM Gurmeet Singh, Assistant Commissioner Simranjit Singh, along with officials from various departments.
