Lt Gen KJS Dhillon Urges Citizens: Avoid Sharing Army Movements on Social Media
Babushahi Bureau
New Delhi, May 1, 2025 – Lt Gen (Retd) KJS Dhillon, a distinguished former Indian Army officer and author, has issued a public appeal to all citizens, urging them to refrain from recording or sharing videos and images of military troop or vehicle movements on social media platforms.
In a message shared widely, Lt Gen Dhillon stated:
“Dear Citizens,
If you see any movement of Indian Army, Air Force or Naval troops/vehicles through your town or city, please don’t make any videos or reels & NOT post them on social media.
You may be unintentionally helping the enemy.”
Known for his insightful writings and patriotic service, Lt Gen Dhillon emphasized that sharing sensitive defence-related visuals, even with innocent intentions, can pose a serious risk to national security. He reiterated that such actions could unintentionally aid hostile entities tracking the movement and deployment of India’s armed forces.
His appeal comes amid heightened awareness around information security and the need for responsible social media behaviour in the national interest.
Security experts have also echoed this sentiment, warning that in the age of instant sharing, even a few seconds of footage can compromise strategic operations. The Ministry of Defence has in the past issued similar advisories, particularly during times of military activity or border tensions.
Lt Gen Dhillon’s message serves as a timely reminder for all citizens to remain vigilant, responsible, and patriotic in both action and digital conduct.
