Drug smuggler’s fortress-like mansion demolished in border village Ferozepur amid tight security
Ferozepur, May 13, 2025: In a major crackdown against drug traffickers, local authorities today began the demolition of a mansion allegedly built on provincial government land by notorious drug smuggler Joginder Singh in the border village of Nihala Kilcha. The operation was carried out under heavy security, with civil officials and a large police force present on the scene.
Tehsildar Arvinder Singh, who was present during the action, stated that the property was illegally constructed on one acre of government land and had been under legal scrutiny in the SDM’s court for quite some time. With the court now ruling in favour of the government, the Deputy Commissioner had issued orders to take possession of the land.
He added that the administration had given the house owner full permission to remove belongings from inside before starting the demolition.
Officials were reportedly stunned by the high-security setup of the massive structure, believed to be built with proceeds from drug smuggling. The outer walls were surrounded by barbed wire fencing on all sides.
SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, who supervision the demolition operation revealed that Joginder Singh, his father Lal Singh, and several family members are facing serious charges related to drug trafficking, with around 29 cases registered against them. Convictions have already been secured in some of these cases, and just days ago, police had recovered 150 gm opium and Rs.11,59,500 lac drug money worth several lakhs from the same house.
This bold move by the administration is being seen as a strong message to those involved in the illegal drug trade.
