Chandigarh, June 2, 2025:Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora announced the approval of a new land pooling policy aimed at revolutionizing urban development in the state. Speaking to the media after a cabinet meeting, Arora described the policy as a historic step toward sustainable and inclusive growth.
“This policy marks a significant milestone for Punjab’s development,” Arora said, refuting claims of misinformation surrounding the initiative.
He emphasized that the policy is entirely voluntary, with no forcible land acquisition.
“Farmers have the freedom to choose—they can pool their land with the government, partner with private developers, or develop it themselves,” he clarified.

Under the policy, farmers contributing one acre of land will receive 1,000 square yards of developed residential land and 200 square yards of commercial land. The government will handle external infrastructure development, such as roads and utilities, while encouraging farmers to participate actively as developers.
Arora urged farmers to disregard misleading narratives and embrace the policy as an opportunity to benefit from urban development on their own terms.
