"‘Sadda Pind Bikau Hai’ Is Cry of Despair, Not Slogan": BJP slams AAP over Punjab drug crisis

Chandigarh, June 2, 2025: The BJP launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government on Sunday, as Punjab witnessed three drug overdose deaths in a single day—highlighting what the BJP called the “complete failure” of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s war on drugs.
BJP Punjab State Media Head Vineet Joshi said the villagers' protest sign “Sadda Pind Bikau Hai” ("Our Village is for Sale")—displayed in Bakhtaur village—was “not a political slogan, but a scream of despair from citizens abandoned by the state.”
On June 1, deaths linked to drug overdoses were reported from Deharka (Ludhiana), Rodikpura (Faridkot), and Senia (Fazilka). In Bakhtaur, the symbolic act of putting the village "up for sale" sent shockwaves across the state, as residents condemned government inaction against the drug mafia.
Joshi cited the brutal case of Ranveer Singh, a retired soldier whose legs were allegedly broken for opposing drug dealers.
He criticized the AAP government’s selective enforcement: “Farmers and peaceful protesters are arrested overnight, but drug smugglers walk free despite multiple cases against them.”
He went on to say that Punjab now fears “Chitta” (heroin) more than any political threat and that people are looking to leaders like UP CM Yogi Adityanath, who have shown zero tolerance toward organized crime.
Joshi concluded, “Punjab is beginning to see the widening gap between AAP’s promises and its delivery. The drug menace is not just continuing—it’s thriving under their watch.”
