Ludhiana (Punjab), June 2, 2025: Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today vowed that a future Congress government would form a judicial commission to probe all false cases registered under political pressure, asserting that guilty officers would be dismissed and jailed for the same term as the innocent victims of those cases.
Addressing a ‘Save Constitution’ public meeting in the Dakha Assembly constituency, organized by Congress leader Capt. Sandeep Singh Sandhu, Warring accused a section of Punjab Police of “betraying their uniform” by acting at the behest of political masters and victimizing innocent citizens.
“Punjab is turning into a police state,” Warring said, referring to a recent custodial death, and demanded urgent police reforms to restore public trust. He said officers misusing their power to register false FIRs should be held fully accountable and face the same jail terms that innocent citizens suffer.
Targeting the AAP-led state government, the PCC president ridiculed its anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashay De Virudh’, stating: “Do drugs end just by filing 8,500 FIRs or demolishing homes? The ground reality is that people are still dying of drug overdoses.”
Warring accused the Bhagwant Mann government of indulging in optics rather than concrete action against drug cartels, and said the growing number of drug-related deaths proves the failure of its war on drugs.
On the occasion, Warring welcomed back suspended Phillaur MLA Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary into the Congress, calling him a “dyed-in-the-wool third-generation Congressman” whose return would strengthen the party.
He also thanked the people of Dakha and Capt. Sandeep Sandhu for their support in his recent Lok Sabha win from Ludhiana, saying their faith was instrumental in Congress’s strong presence in the region.
Prominent leaders present at the event included former Deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, ex-MLAs Gurkirat Singh Kotli, Lakhwinder Lakha, Kuldeep Singh Vaid, and Sukhpal Bhullar.2, 2025:
