Chandigarh, June 2, 2025: Shiromani Akali Dal Chief Spokesman Arshdeep Singh Kler today said that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had promised to give Minimum Support Price (MSP) to farmers on the eve of the 2022 Assembly elections but now the Bhagwant Mann led AAP government was usurping the land of the farmers of the State.
In a statement here, Arshdeep Kler said it was shocking to see that the AAP government had introduced a new policy under which it was going to acquire agricultural land and sell it to builders and developers.
He said the land pooling policy amended by the present government would benefit businessmen who wanted to develop colonies on the fertile land of the farmers of the food bowl of the country.
He said ultimately it would be farmers which would be the worst sufferers under the new policy. He said the land pooling policy followed by the erstwhile SAD government was in the best interests of the farmers as it had ensured a good acquisition price which was aimed at securing the future of the farmers.
He said that it was most unfortunate to see that the present AAP government, which had promised the moon to the farmers, was now trying to take away fertile land from them at throw away prices.
He said that SAD would stand with the farmers in this hour of crisis and would ensure that their land was not forcibly taken away from them. EOM
