SCF felicitates honesty, social service champions, pledges civic action
Ferozepur, June 3, 2025: The Senior Citizens Forum (SCF) organized a special event at the Baghban Campus of the District Red Cross Complex to address civic issues and celebrate the spirit of community service. Members from various walks of life gathered to discuss solutions for public concerns and to recognize three local heroes for their exemplary contributions.
During the event, SCF Patron Tilak Raj Airy, Chairman S.P. Khera, President Pardeep Dhawan, Secretary Mohinder Singh Dhaliwal, and Vice President Satish Puri honored Ashok Behal, who recently retired as the Secretary of the Red Cross, for his dedicated service to the community. Young social worker Vipul Narang was recognized for his unwavering readiness to help anyone in need, earning him the title of "Yes Man" in the community. Additionally, Ashok Babbar, a retired PNB employee, was celebrated for his remarkable honesty—he returned a bag containing jewelry worth over Rs. 50 lakh that was left in a locker room, setting an inspiring example of integrity.
General Secretary Mohinder Singh Dhaliwal underscored the forum’s commitment to resolving ongoing issues such as poor road conditions, drainage problems, water supply, encroachments, malfunctioning streetlights, and traffic management. He stressed the importance of collective action and the valuable role senior citizens play in addressing these challenges.
Members of the forum actively participated in the discussions, sharing suggestions for improving civic amenities and infrastructure. The atmosphere was enriched with recitations of couplets and thoughtful messages.
In his concluding remarks, President Pardeep Dhawan pledged that the SCF would continue to collaborate with authorities to ensure that citizens’ concerns are addressed promptly and effectively.
