DSCW wins Distt Green Champion award for 2025-26
Ferozepur, June 10, 2025: Dev Samaj College for Women, (DSCW) has been recognized for its leadership in cleanliness, social work, and cultural activities by winning the District Green Champion Award (2025-26) under the Swachhta Action Plan of the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
Principal Dr. Sangeeta Sharma announced that the college has been declared the district green champion by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. The college’s efforts in cleanliness and green initiatives have been remarkable and have set a benchmark for other colleges, under the tutelage of Dr Agnese Dhillon, Chairperson and Advocate Ajay Batta, Secretary.
Dr. Mohini, Nodal Officer of the college, stated that out of 900 women’s colleges in the state, this award-winning college stood out for its consistent efforts in environmental conservation and cleanliness. Various programs such as tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, plastic-free campus initiatives, and waste management drives were undertaken to achieve this milestone. The college also has active NSS, NCC, and Youth Red Cross units.
The college’s efforts include recycling and upcycling initiatives, environmental awareness camps, and various extension activities that have led to the award. The Nodal Officer noted that these activities have not only helped in environmental protection but have also empowered the students with leadership, creativity, and employment opportunities. The college has also organized various workshops and competitions to raise awareness about water conservation and waste reduction.
The efforts of Principal faculty members, and students were recognized in the award presentation, held in the presence of Dr. Mohini, Nodal Officer, and other dignitaries.
