94 units collected on World Blood Donor Day; Donor honoured for 114th contribution
Ferozepur, June 14, 2025: On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, a blood donation camp was organized by Red Cross and DC Model School in Ferozepur.The event was held with the collaboration of the District Administration, Health Department, Red Cross Society, Education Department, Civil Defence, NGOs, Sports Department, Youth Clubs, and various educational institutions.

The blood donation camp was inaugurated by Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Gurmej Ram. Red Cross Society Secretary Sunil Dutt and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Gurmej Ram emphasized that donating blood is one of the noblest acts of humanity. "Blood donation is a supreme gift that can save precious lives. Every drop of blood has the power to revive someone on the verge of death," he stated.
Dr. Dishvin Bajwa, Blood Transfusion Officer, highlighted that blood donation does not cause weakness but gives a sense of satisfaction. She added that one unit of donated blood benefits not just one but four patients, as it is separated into components like plasma, RBCs, platelets, and clotting factors useful for haemophilia patients.
During the event, several NGOs and individual donors were felicitated for their contributions. Notably, Sanjay Dhingra was honoured for donating blood for the 114th time, followed by Rajeev Sharma (77 times), Vikramjit Singh (67 times), Prof. Gurjeevan Singh (53 times), and J.S. Mangat (50 times).
Prominent organisations like Helping Hand, Life Saver, Blessing Foundation, Bharat Vikas Parishad, and representatives from various educational institutions were also recognized for their support.
District Mass Media Officer Sanjeev Sharma and Deputy Officer Ankush Bhandari informed that a total of 94 units of blood were collected, which will contribute significantly to saving many lives.
Among the attendees were Deputy District Education Officer Dr. Satinder Singh, Dr. Rameshwar Singh, Narinder Singh Zira, Vipul Narang, Mahinder Pal Bajaj, Satish Grover, Parminder Singh (Chief Warden, Civil Defence), and medical staff including Dr. Maansi, Dr. Harleen, and Dr. Savkrit.
