Forum of Resident Doctors Calls Off Strike After Successful Talks with Punjab Ministers

Chandigarh, June 30, 2025 – The Forum of Resident Doctors of Punjab has officially withdrawn its proposed strike following a successful two-hour meeting with Punjab Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema and Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh.
The meeting, held in the presence of senior officials including Additional Chief Secretary Finance Alok Shekhar, Principal Secretary Health Kumar Rahul, Secretary Expenditure V.N. Zade, and Director Medical Education and Research Dr. Avnish Kumar, led to a breakthrough on the key issues raised by the resident doctors.
Both ministers assured the forum of the Punjab Government’s commitment to addressing their demands and acknowledged the vital role resident doctors play in the state’s healthcare system. The forum, satisfied with the government's response, announced the withdrawal of their strike to ensure uninterrupted medical services across Punjab.
The Ministers reiterated that the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government remains committed to maintaining constructive dialogue with the medical fraternity and will continue to prioritize the welfare of healthcare workers and citizens alike.
Representing the Forum of Resident Doctors were Dr. Ramandeep Singh (President, RDA Patiala), Dr. Akshay Seth (Chief Patron, RDA Patiala), Dr. Gurbhagat Singh (General Secretary), Dr. Milan (Advisor), Dr. Mehtab Singh Bal (Press Secretary), and executive members Dr. Gurjeet Singh and Dr. Darshdeep Singh.
