NABARD-CCB jointly held mega camp on Cooperative Literacy-cum-Financial Inclusion Saturation
Ghall Khurd (Ferozepur), July 19, 2025: A Cooperative Literacy-cum-Financial Inclusion Saturation Mega Camp was successfully organised on Friday at the BDPO Office, Ghall Khurd, Ferozepur. Jointly convened by NABARD and the Ferozepur Central Cooperative Bank (CCB), the camp witnessed active participation from around 60 stakeholders, including ward members from 25 Gram Panchayats, farmers, Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS) secretaries, and senior officials from the cooperative banking sector. The aim was to foster greater financial empowerment and cooperative awareness among rural communities.
The camp was inaugurated by Ms. Geeta Mehta, Lead District Manager (LDM) of Ferozepur, and Lakhwinder Singh Bhuttar, Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) of Ghall Khurd. In her keynote address, Ms. Mehta underscored the critical role of financial literacy in rural development and highlighted the ongoing Financial Inclusion Saturation Campaign initiated by the Department of Financial Services, Government of India, and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). She urged participants to take full advantage of social security schemes like PMJJBY, PMSBY, and APY for securing their future.
Earlier, Paramjit Singh, District Manager, Ferozepur CCB, traced the history of the cooperative movement and reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to serving rural communities through competitive services and a strong community-focused ethos, distinguishing it from commercial banks.
Rohit Kashyap, District Development Manager (DDM), NABARD, emphasised the vital role of cooperatives in border and aspirational districts like Ferozepur. He advocated for embedding financial literacy into daily household conversations and reiterated NABARD’s dedication to strengthening the cooperative ecosystem for sustainable and inclusive growth.
The camp motivated several attendees to enrol immediately in schemes like PMJJBY, PMSBY, and APY, taking a significant step towards comprehensive financial security for rural households.
The programme concluded with an interactive session where officials addressed queries related to cooperative banking services, credit facilities, and insurance products. Participants lauded the joint efforts of NABARD and CCB and pledged their active support in spreading the message of financial literacy across their villages.
